His team’s cumulative win/loss record over his twelve years as a coach was 120-72-0. From 2014 through the 2020 season, he served as the Houston Texans’ head coach. During that time, the Texans had a 56-56-0 record.
He spent seven seasons as a head coach during his career. On October 5, 2020, he was let go by the Texans. After a sluggish start to the year, he was let go, and Romeo Crennel took over as the Texans’ new temporary head coach.
In 2023, O’Brien will make a comeback to the NFL as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Patriots.
