According to the aggregate rankings of 247Sports.com, the 6-foot-8 Howard was a four-star prospect and the No. 43 recruit in the 2022 class. As a member of a class that was among the top 12 in the nation, he made the decision to play for his father, Juwan.

This season, Howard made 29 starts for the Wolverines and averaged 14.2 points while shooting 41.4/36.8/80.0 from the field. He was chosen to the Big Ten’s All-Freshman team and received third-team All-Big Ten recognition.

The Wolverines struggled this past season, going 18-16 (11-9 in Big Ten play), missing the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2015 despite Howard being a bright spot.
