Reggie Miller is the son of Carrie Miller and Saul Miller. Miller was born with hip deformities that made it difficult for him to walk properly. After a few years of wearing braces on both legs continuously, his leg strength improved enough to compensate.

He is one of five siblings from an athletic family. His brother Darrell is a former Major League Baseball player, his sister Tammy was a Cal State Fullerton volleyball player, and his older sister Cheryl is a Hall of Fame basketball player.

Reggie Miller’s father was a jazz musician who played saxophone with B.B. King, Lionel Hampton, and Ike Turner. He performed at the same concert as Ray Charles one night in Atlanta. He was a backup musician on two recordings.

Saul Miller was a standout at LeMoyne College before transferring to Southern Illinois and being drafted by the Air Force. He later earned a master’s degree in computer technology and served in the Air Force for 25 years as a chief master sergeant.

Reggie Miller’s love for his father comes up time and time again. During his Hall of Fame enshrinement speech in 2012, he thanked his dad for always being there for himself and his siblings.
