Both of Walker’s two sons play football professionally. Tyler, the older son, plays for Coventry City, while Lewis, the younger son, plays for Gillingham.

Walker didn’t often skip games. Despite frequently dispossessing opponents with sliding challenges from all sides over the first 10 years of his career, he received an astonishingly low amount of bookings. Although he wasn’t the tallest center back, he could leap to outdistance the tallest forwards in the air, and with to his speed, even the fastest and most skilled forwards very infrequently managed to outrun him.
