What happened to Barry Manilow?

American songwriter and singer, Barry Manilow divorced his high school sweetheart, Susan Deixler just two years after marriage and later went on to marry his manager, Garry Kief in 2014, after the legalization of same-sex marriage.

However, he later stated that he was in love with his wife and that his passion for a music career, and also his lack of maturity, put a strain on their relationship.  Manilow who earlier referred to Deixler as “the perfect wife.” He claimed that he had to leave everything behind and focus on music.

Manilow began his career in the entertainment industry as a commercial jingle writer and singer. He composed many TV jungles and also performed most of them. Some include State Farm Insurance – Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there – Band-Aid, I am stuck on Band-Aid, ‘Cause Band-Aid’s stuck on me!

He has recorded and released over 50 Top 40 singles on the Adult Contemporary Chart, including 13 that hit number one, 28 within the top ten, and 36 top twenty.
