Hampshire’s Tenby served as a justice of the peace. On May 1, 2015, Tenby resigned from the House of Lords. The House of Lords Reform Act of 2014 made it possible for peers to retire. Tenby’s departure as a crossbench hereditary lord prompted a by-election, which Jeffrey Evans, 4th Baron Mountevans, won. At the age of 95, Tenby passed away on June 12, 2023.
