How good was Cambiasso? – Esteban Cambiasso is often regarded as one of the world’s most underappreciated midfielders. He was excellent and efficient, but he did not garner as many accolades as Claude Makelele, Sergio Busquets, and Michael Essien.

Cambiasso was immense in Jose Mourinho’s 2009/10 Champions League triumph with Inter Milan. Cambiasso was a workaholic who made Jose’s men tick and the Portuguese gaffer has not forgotten.

In Jose’s own words: “I won the treble with Cambiasso. He belongs to my golden team at Inter. He is one of the players who means a lot to me.”

Cambiasso was a prominent member of a team that dominated Italy and Europe under the direction of the Portuguese manager. His desire, tenacity, and tactical discipline were crucial, allowing Wesley Sneijder, Ricardo Quaresma, and Samuel Eto’o to thrive. It’s difficult to conceive how successful the company would have been without him.

His stay at the club will expire in 2014, but his legacy would be among the best. He’d won 15 titles in 420 games, including their first European title in 45 years.

Cambiasso won 21 official titles by the end of his career, the majority of which came during his ten seasons with Inter Milan, including five Scudetti and the much-discussed 2009-10 UEFA Champions League.
