Ricardo Antonio Chavira, born September 1, 1971, is an American actor best known for his role as Carlos Solis in the ABC television series Desperate Housewives, which aired from 2004 to 2012. In addition, he portrayed Abraham Quintanilla in the Netflix original series Selena: The Series, which premiered in 2020.

Chavira began his acting career as a guest performer on several television episodes, including NYPD Blue, 24, The Division, Joan of Arcadia, and JAG. In 2002, he landed a recurring role on HBO’s comedy-drama Six Feet Under and a series regular on Fox’s unaired sitcom The Grubbs.

Chavira’s career took off in 2004 when he was cast in Desperate Housewives as Carlos Solis, the husband of Gabrielle Solis (played by Eva Longoria). The series was hugely successful, and Chavira’s acting gained a lot of praise. He was on People en Espaol’s “50 Most Beautiful” list in 2005, while TV Guide named him one of “TV’s Sexiest Men” the following year.
In 2005 and 2006, Chavira and the cast got two Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Ensemble Performance in a Comedy Series. He also received three ALMA nominations for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series. Desperate Housewives ended in 2012 after eight great seasons.
