Love Island star Samie Elishi has been facing a challenging health battle since fans spotted a concerning lump on her neck during her time on the popular ITV2 show. The 23-year-old reality TV star has been awaiting surgery to address the issue, but recent complications have forced a postponement of the operation.

Doctors have expressed concerns that the lump on Samie’s neck could potentially be thyroid cancer, adding to the gravity of the situation. However, the young star’s health took an unexpected turn when she contracted tonsillitis while on holiday with her family. This development led to an urgent hospital dash for Samie.
Upon her return to the UK, Samie wasted no time seeking medical attention. She shared her distressing journey on her YouTube channel, explaining, “I didn’t realise how bad tonsillitis could be but I was on an IV drip on the cruise to try and get food and water in me because I couldn’t eat or drink. Then as soon as I landed, I was meant to go to the Beyoncé concert with PrettyLittleThing, which I’m absolutely gutted I couldn’t make, but I had to land and go straight to the hospital.”
With the antibiotics she had received on the cruise proving insufficient, Samie and her mother rushed to the hospital for further evaluation. Unfortunately, the diagnosis brought more obstacles. It was revealed that having surgery while having an infection is not advisable, necessitating a delay in her treatment plan.

Samie learned from doctors in April that her condition is grade three, and she will need to undergo surgery in the next four to six weeks. The procedure involves removing half of her thyroid along with the lump, and the removed tissue will be tested for potential cancerous cells. Should the lump be cancerous, Samie will need to undergo a second surgery to remove the other half of her thyroid.
Despite the setbacks and the uncertainty surrounding her health, Samie remains optimistic and thankful for the support she has received from her fans. Speaking about the positive impact of sharing her journey, she said, “I’ve had such amazing messages as well saying how helpful it has been me sharing my journey. People have found lumps in their throat and went to get it checked out.”
