Ugochukwu was born in Rennes and enrolled in the prestigious Rouge et Noir academy at the age of barely eight. He is Onyekachi Apam’s nephew, a former Nice and Nigerian footballer. Alongside Camavinga, Ugochukwu began playing football in the Rennes youth teams as a defender.

He played three more games after making his professional debut in April 2021 against Dijon. Ugochukwu has made 12 appearances in 2021–22, although just three of them have been as a starter. In a 5-0 thrashing of Saint-Etienne in late December, he scored his first goal as a senior.
Ugochukwu has additionally made three appearances in the Europa Conference League. Additionally, Marcel Desailly, a legend in France, has been compared to Ugochukwu.
