Lia Wälti is a footballer who plays as a midfielder for Switzerland’s national team and the FA Women’s Super League club Arsenal Women.
Born on April 19, 1993, in Langnau im Emmental, Bern, Switzerland, Walti has played for various clubs, including Nationalliga A’s club YB Frauen, and Frauen-Bundesliga’s club Turbine Potsdam.
She currently serves as captain of the Switzerland national team and the third captain of Arsenal Women.

Walti began her sports career at a young age, playing ice hockey and football. From age 8, she began playing with the boy’s team FC Langnau, under the tutelage of her father.
She later joined Team Bern West, before she moved to BSC Young Boys, where she played in the U16 boys’ team.
As of 2008, Walti jointly played for Team Bern West, and FC Köniz of the Swiss Challenge League. The following year, she joined BSC YB Frauen, where she won the Nationalliga A, and made her first appearance at the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Lia Wälti spent five seasons playing for Turbine Potsdam, where she also served as captain and appeared in 97 games.
In 2018, Walti was signed into Arsenal. In 2019, she began to captain the Switzerland national women’s team, following the retirement of Lara Dickerman.
