For an undisclosed sum, Celtic acquired Legia Warsaw’s Maik Nawrocki as a center back. With the Scottish champions, the 22-year-old has reached a five-year agreement. For the Polish Ekstraklasa runners-up last season, Nawrocki made 30 appearances, all but four of which were starts, and he scored four goals.
After spending a year on loan with Legia Warsaw, the defender, who was born in Bremen and grew up via Werder Bremen’s development ranks, made the move there last summer.

Nawrocki contributed to Legia’s victory over Rakow Czestochowa in the Polish Cup shootout that followed a 0-0 draw by scoring the game-winning penalty kick for Legia in that campaign.

This season’s Polish Super Cup resulted in another scoreless tie between Legia and Rakow, and the Poland Under-21 international was a replacement.

Maik Nawrocki style of play: How good is Maik Nawrocki?

Nawrocki, who plays center back most of the time, has sporadic experience filling in at right back and in defensive midfield. Given the abundance of midfield options available to Celtic, it is almost probable that Rodgers views the player as more center-back insurance.

Nawrocki has played on either side of a central defense pairing for Legia and is described as being at ease using both feet. It appears that he has little trouble switching between the two positions.
