Selena Gomez, the multi-talented artist, is breaking stereotypes about what it means to be a “high maintenance” woman. As she promotes her latest song, “Single Soon,” she’s shedding light on how often men misinterpret women’s standards as excessive demands.

In a recent interview, Gomez candidly discussed the lyrics of her song, which include the line, “a little bit high maintenance, but I’m worth a try.” She acknowledged that this description could apply to her but clarified that having standards is not the same as being high maintenance.

“I think I have standards, and I think I live in a world right now where boys confuse standards with high maintenance,” Gomez shared, shedding light on the misconceptions that often surround women’s expectations in relationships.

The 31-year-old artist emphasized that there’s nothing wrong with knowing what one wants in a partner. “I’m not ashamed to say, ‘I actually require X, Y, and Z for you to be with me,’” she stated. Gomez believes that her song’s lyrics capture the attitude she holds about her own standards and expectations.

While Gomez is content with her single status, she remains open to finding a special someone. She discussed her outlook on love during an interview with SiriusXM Hits 1 LA, where she promoted “Single Soon.”

“I think everybody goes through the phase of, ‘Oh, it’d be nice to have someone,’ and I get that. But, you know, I’m just enjoying where I’m at,” Gomez expressed. She stressed the importance of being happy with herself before welcoming someone into her life.

Gomez, who has been in high-profile relationships with stars like Justin Bieber, Joe Jonas, and The Weeknd in the past, has some criteria for potential partners. She values kindness, a good sense of humor, and being respectful to her family and those around her.

Despite recently breaking her hand, Gomez hasn’t slowed down. She and her 10-year-old sister, Gracie, attended a soccer match featuring Lionel Messi and other A-list celebrities. Although their team, Los Angeles FC, lost 3-1, Gomez showed her support with enthusiasm.

Selena Gomez is not just a talented artist but also a socially conscious entrepreneur. She celebrated the third anniversary of her makeup line, Rare Beauty, and her brand’s Rare Impact Fund, which allocates one percent of sales to support mental health initiatives. The Rare Impact Fund aims to raise $100 million over the next decade and has already provided grants to organizations like Mindful Life Project, Black Teacher Project, Konscious Youth Development & Service, and Trans Lifeline, all focused on mental health services.

Selena Gomez’s advocacy for mental health and her empowering message about setting standards serve as a testament to her commitment to making a positive impact, both in her music and in the world.
