Welsh rugby union footballer Ryan Elias (born 7 January 1995) hooks for the Scarlets and the Wales national team. Elias’ grandpa was the former club chairman of Carmarthen Athletic, where he participated in youth rugby. As he advanced through the Scarlets academy, he later switched to the rival Carmarthen Quins.

On November 17, 2013, Elias made his Scarlets’ professional debut against the Saracens.

Elias started the semifinal matchup against Leinster and the championship matchup against Munster since first-choice hooker and fellow Bro Myrddin alumnus Ken Owens was injured. The Scarlets went on to win the 2016–17 Pro12 championship. He started the subsequent test against Samoa after making his debut on the bench against Tonga on June 16, 2017, at Eden Park.

The front-rower has been working hard in the gym this summer to recover from a hamstring injury in time for the World Cup to begin. Dewi Lake, a fellow hooker, also wants to be fully healthy for the pool stages.
