American former professional football linebacker Luke Kuechly (April 20, 1991) played with the Carolina Panthers for his entire eight-year National Football League (NFL) career. The Panthers selected him ninth overall in the 2012 NFL Draft. When Kuechly played college football for Boston College, he was twice named a unanimous All-American.

During his rookie season, Kuechly made a significant impact, leading the NFL in tackles and winning the Associated Press 2012 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award, making him the third-youngest winner in the award’s history. The AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award was given to Kuechly in 2013, making him the award’s youngest ever winner.

Tom Kuechly and Eileen Kuechly are Luke Kuechly’s parents. Luke is the middle child of Kuechly’s parents’ three kids.
While growing up in Cincinnati, both of his parents were active athletes who even went on to compete at the collegiate level. While Eileen played basketball and volleyball before to enrolling at the University of Cincinnati, Tom Kuechly played goalie for the soccer team at Xavier University from 1979 to 1983.
