Australian professional boxer Jai Opetaia was born on June 30, 1995. Since 2022, he has held the cruiserweight titles of both the Ring magazine and the International Boxing Federation (IBF). He competed in the 2012 Youth World Championships, where he took home a bronze medal, and the 2012 and 2014 Commonwealth Games, when he represented Australia as an amateur.

Opetaia, an amateur boxer, qualified for the 2012 Olympics as a heavyweight at the age of 16, making him the youngest Australian to ever compete in the Olympics. He won the Light Heavyweight title at the 2011 Junior World Championships.
