Prime Boy, Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and Others Named as Suspects in Mohbad’s Case

The Lagos State Police Command has officially named five suspects, including Naira Marley, Sam Larry, Primeboy, and one other, in connection with the case surrounding the untimely death of popular Afrobeats singer Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Aloba. The 27-year-old artist tragically passed away on September 12, 2023, sparking controversy and renewed attention to allegations of bullying and physical assault made by the late singer in old videos.

In a press briefing held on Friday, Commissioner of Police Idowu Owohunwa revealed that the police had made significant progress in their investigation. He stated, “Five suspects have so far been identified, arrested, detained, and interrogated on their alleged roles in the sequence of events that led to the death of the singer.”

Among the suspects is Ibrahim Oluwatosin Owodunni, known as Primeboy, who was described as a childhood friend of Mohbad. The police commissioner disclosed that Primeboy and Mohbad attended a show together on September 10, during which a physical altercation ensued between the two friends, resulting in injuries sustained by the late singer.

Owohunwa explained, “The management of the injury subsequently resulted in his death.”

Another suspect in the case is Mr. Ayobami Sadiq, alias Spending, who was allegedly responsible for inviting the auxiliary nurse involved in the incident. Spending is suspected of conspiracy to commit a felony in relation to Mohbad’s death.

Sam Larry, whose real name is Samson Balogun, was arrested and is currently in detention due to his alleged complicity in the death of the Afrobeats star and his association with viral videos in which Mohbad spoke about bullying and assault.

Abdul-Aziz Fashola, better known as Naira Marley, has also been apprehended and is currently in detention facing similar allegations related to the case.

The police commissioner further revealed that several investigative steps had been taken, including the exhumation of Mohbad’s remains, conducting an autopsy, and carrying out toxicology tests. These procedures were conducted on September 21, and the results of the autopsy and toxicology reports are still pending.

As the investigation continues, authorities are working diligently to uncover the full details surrounding the tragic death of Mohbad and the circumstances leading up to it.
