Abigail Daniella Phillip is an American journalist who works as a political correspondent and weekend anchor for CNN. She previously worked for The Washington Post, ABC News, and Politico.

Abby Phillip, who is of Afro-Trinidadian descent, was born in Virginia to June Phillip, a realtor, and Carlos Phillip, a teacher who subsequently became an educational psychologist.

She grew raised with five siblings and lived in Trinidad and Tobago for a short time throughout her childhood. When Abby was nine years old, her parents returned to the United States.

She grew up in Bowie, Maryland, and attended Bowie High School before attending Harvard University and graduating in 2010.

Despite her initial plans to pursue premedical studies, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in government there. Abby worked as a writer for The Harvard Crimson during her stay at Harvard.

She joined CNN in 2017 and mostly covers Trump administration news. Prior to joining CNN, Abby worked at The Washington Post in a variety of capacities, including national political reporting and general assignments.

She also obtained experience at ABC News, where she worked as a digital correspondent in New York City as an ABC News Fellow. She also appeared as a guest on C-SPAN several times. She began her journalism career as a White House correspondent and blogger for Politico, focusing on campaign finance and lobbying issues.
