Alan Hurst, a former Labour MP who passed away at the age of 77, has received tributes.

He was initially elected during the Labour landslide under Tony Blair, and he represented Braintree in north Essex from 1997 to 2005.
The former solicitor was the deputy leader of Southend-on-Sea Borough Council before entering the House of Commons.
The Labour East group expressed its sadness at learning of his passing and its condolences to his friends and family.

Despite our divergent political views, Mr. Newmark wrote on Twitter: “He was always a lovely, polite man and well respected in the community.
“I extend my sincere condolences to the entire family of his.”

From 1997 to 2005, Alan Arthur Hurst, a British lawyer and member of the Labour Party, served as the MP for Braintree in Essex. He died on February 3, 2023.
Hurst was George Hurst’s son. In Westcliff-on-Sea, he went to Westcliff High School for Boys. He graduated with a BA in History from the University of Liverpool.
