Alexander George Karras was an American football player, professional wrestler, sportscaster, and actor.

Karras attended Emerson High School in Gary, Indiana. He was a four-time Indiana all-state selection.
Karras was a standout defensive tackle for the Hawkeyes in 1956 and 1957.
He was the 10th player selected in the 1958 NFL Draft. Karras played his entire NFL career (1958-1970) for the Detroit Lions, earning All-Pro recognition and being selected for the Pro Bowl four times.
Karras was elected to the Iowa Sports Hall of Fame in 1977 and the College Football Hall of Fame in 1991. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2020.
