She had divorced Scott’s father when Scott was just seven years old.

Scott played college football at Langdon Park School and went ahead to play for the England national team and the United States, making 140 appearances in Britain.

Scott represented her country at the 2002 FIFA U-19 Women’s World Championship in Canada, UEFA Women’s Cup, and the 2012 Summer Olympics.
She joined Arsenal in 2012, after spending one season at Birmingham City and three years in the American Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) with Boston Breakers.
Scott later launched her media career by taking up roles at BBC Sport, BT Sport, and Sky Sports.
She quit playing football in 2017, and embraced full-time TV broadcasting. She was inducted to the English Football Hall of Fame in 2019.
