Alex Turner Parents: Meet Penny Turner and David Turner

Alex Turner is a rock singer, songwriter, and musician from England. Alex Turner was born in Sheffield, England on January 6, 1986. He is the only child of Penny and David Turner.

His mother Penny Turner taught German, and his father David Turner taught physics and music at Rawmarsh Community School.

Alex Turner took piano lessons until he was eight years old. Turner was exposed to a variety of music at home because his father was a member of big bands.

Turner’s parents bought him a guitar in 2001, and he began writing songs with a bass guitar and some microphones. Soon, he was immersed in music and became serious about pursuing a career in it.

Turner formed Arctic Monkeys with his friends Andy Nicholson, Glyn Jones, and Matt Helders in 2002, while still in high school.

His parents reluctantly agreed to let him skip university for a year to pursue his musical dreams after college.

Arctic Monkeys’ first album, ‘Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not,’ was released in January 2006 and it became the fastest-selling album in British music history.

Alex Turner is regarded as one of his generation’s most influential artists. He has won seven Brit Awards, an Ivor Novello Award, and a Mercury Prize
