On August 9, 1993, Karen Alexa Grasso Montes was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.

At a young age, Alexa Grasso was trained in several styles of mixed martial arts by her uncle Fransico Grasso and her father Luis Grasso. Together, the two guys opened a gym, and Alexa Grasso used to assist them with the front desk and facility maintenance.
Soon after competing in and taking first place in a national jiu-jitsu tournament, Grasso made the decision to pursue a career in mixed martial arts. On December 19, 2012, she faced Sandra del Rincon in her professional debut, winning by first-round knockout.
On November 5, 2016, at UFC Fight Night 98 in Mexico, Grasso made her octagon debut. She competed against Heather Jo Clark and prevailed by unanimous decision.
Afterward, Alexa Grasso fought Felice Herrig, but she was defeated by the decision. The match took place at UFC Fight Night 104 on February 4, 2017, in Texas, United States.

Grasso defeated Randa Markos in a decision on August 5, 2017. In her subsequent battle, Tatiana Suarez used a rear naked choke to force Grasso to submit early on.
Grasso defeated Karolina Kowalkiewicz in a unanimous decision at UFC 238.
