Alina Claire Kupchak died after suffering from a long illness. However, the actual illness wasn’t disclosed to the general public till now.

A statement from the family was released after the death of the young girl.

“Alina Claire Kupchak, daughter of Mitch Kupchak and wife Claire Kupchak, passed away this morning at the age of 15 after a lengthy illness. The family asks for and appreciates their privacy at this difficult time, and would like to express their gratitude for everyone’s love, support, thoughts and prayers,” the statement read.

Former American basketball player, Magic Johnson also expressed his condolences on social media;

“My condolences go out to a super friend and teammate, Mitch Kupchak and his wife Claire on the passing of their 15-year-old daughter Alina,” he wrote in a tweet.
