She gained recognition as part of the pop duo Brit & Alex alongside her identical twin sister, Alexia. However, the duo disbanded in 2009, and Smith pursued her career solo.

Career Highlights

Smith’s career kicked off early, as she began appearing on television at just six months old, notably on the soap opera One Life to Live.

By the age of 15, she had become a prominent spokesmodel for the renowned hair care brand John Frieda and was signed to The Ford Agency.

Alongside her sister, Smith formed the pop duo Brit & Alex, gaining fame for their appearances in TV commercials for John Freida’s Sheer Blonde line.

The duo also signed with Interscope Records and released music, including the single “Let It Go,” which reached number 75 on the UK Singles Chart in 2008.

In 2011, Smith, under the name Matisse, showcased her talent by releasing a medley of Rihanna songs on YouTube, produced by Kurt Hugo Schneider.

She further solidified her presence in the music scene with the release of “Provocative” featuring Will.i.am in 2013, accompanied by a music video featuring Betty White.

Controversy with Jojo Siwa

In 2024, a controversy arose when American singer JoJo Siwa released a song titled “Karma.” This sparked attention when an unreleased version of the song, recorded by Brittany Smith in 2012, was leaked.

Smith’s rendition received widespread praise online, prompting her to officially release the song across all streaming platforms. In an interview with Page Six, Smith disclosed that “Karma” was initially intended to be her debut single, but last-minute label decisions altered plans. Presently, Smith is employed at Color Wow but harbors aspirations to return to the music scene.
