Andrew Lorimar Lochhead was a professional Scottish footballer who played as a striker.

Born on March 9, 1942, in Milngavie, Stirlingshire, Scotland, Andy graduated from Clydebank High School.

Andy played for Burnley, Leicester City, Aston Villa, Oldham Athletic and Denver Dynamos amid his 14-year career.

Lochhead scored 4 when Burnley beat Manchester United 6-1 in a league game on 26 December 1963.

He made more than 200 appearances for the Burnley club, scoring over 100 goals.

The Scot was a runner-up with Aston Villa in the 1971 League Cup final and helped them win the old Division Three title in 1972.

Lockhead Coached Oldham Athletic AFC for some years before scouting for several clubs including Burnley, then became steward at the Ighton Mount bowling club outside Burnley.

He later run a pub, bay horse inn before retiring but was currently doing match-day hospitality at Turf Moor.

According to Aston Villa FC Official, Andy Lochhead died on March 18, 2022, at the age of 81. However, the cause of death was not disclosed on the teams’ platform.

In a tweet, the club wrote; “Aston Villa is saddened to learn of the passing of former striker Andy Lochhead, who has died at the age of 81”.

“The thoughts of everyone at the Club are with Andy’s family and friends”.

“We will wear black armbands at Villa Park tomorrow in his memory”, it added.
