Anthony Holden Cause of Death

Distinguished British writer Anthony Holden, known for his extensive body of work encompassing biographies, journalism, and Royal Family narratives, has passed away at the age of 76. Holden’s son, Ben, disclosed that his father’s demise occurred at his London residence on October 7, attributed to complications stemming from a brain tumor and stroke.

Born in Southport on May 22, 1947, Anthony Holden initiated his journalistic career at the Hemel Hempstead Evening Post Echo. Later, he pursued higher education at Merton College, Oxford, focusing on English language and literature. Notably, he even made an appearance on the quiz show University Challenge.

In the course of his journalistic journey, Holden assumed significant roles as the US editor for the Observer and as an assistant editor at the Times. His unwavering dedication to the field was duly recognized with several prestigious press awards, underscoring his outstanding contributions throughout his career.

Anthony Holden leaves behind a family that includes his sons Ben, Sam, and Joe, in addition to his stepchildren, Ben and Siena Colegrave. Furthermore, he is survived by four grandchildren and his brother, Robin Holden. It is worth noting that he was the grandson of Ivan Sharpe, a notable football player who secured an Olympic gold medal for England in 1912.

In 1990, Holden entered matrimony with novelist Cynthia Blake, a union that endured for a decade, marked by separation but devoid of a formal divorce.
