According to Bard, Howell got married to Elizabeth Atkins, on July 15, 2023, in Lexington, Kentucky.
Bard further states:
“Howell and Atkins have been together for several years and have a young son together. They are very private about their personal lives, so it is not known how they met or how long they have been together.”

However, no other website has authenticated the above reportage by Bard which has made the true state of Howell’s marital status difficult to verify.
What is clear is about Howell is that he is a very private person and aside from the movies he has starred in, he has not given much information about his personal life.
He starred in the BBC four-part series Wives and Daughters (1999) before joining the 2000 Royal Shakespeare Company season in Stratford-Upon-Avon, where he took leading roles in the three main plays of that year: Orlando in As You Like It, Benvolio in Romeo and Juliet and Antipholous of Ephesus in The Comedy of Errors, playing opposite David Tennant.
Howell’s acting debut came when he began a world tour with Robert Lepage’s stage play The Geometry of Miracles.
