Former American football running back Archie Mason Griffin was born on August 21, 1954. With the Cincinnati Bengals, Archie Griffin competed in the NFL for seven seasons.

Archie Griffin was admitted to the High School Hall of Fame in 1996. In his honor, Eastmoor Academy changed the name of its athletic field to “Archie Griffin Field”.

Archie Griffin became the only player to ever start in four Rose Bowls and won four Big Ten Conference championships with the Ohio State Buckeyes.
