Gregory’s character, Brian, was one of the two Tanner children, who formed a special bond with the extraterrestrial visitor. The series also starred Max Wright and Anne Schedeen as the Tanner parents and Andrea Elson as Brian’s sister.

On June 13, 2024, Benjamin Gregory Hertzberg and his service dog, Hans, were found dead in his car in a parking lot in Peoria, Arizona. Although the official cause of death is still pending, his sister, Rebecca Hertzberg-Pfaffinger, believes that Gregory fell asleep in his car and died of heatstroke.
