Bette Davis’s second husband: Who is Arthur Farnsworth?
Bette Davis and her second husband, Arthur Farnsworth. He died after leaving the Brown Derby restaurant when he let out a blood-curdling scream and collapsed on Hollywood Blvd, falling backward and slamming his head on the sidewalk. Blood was pouring from his ears and nose as bystanders tried to help. An autopsy revealed that he died from a blood clot in the brain due to a skull fracture that had happened previously.

Davis said she had no idea what could have happened, unless it was that time, two months ago, when he fell down the stairs rushing to answer the phone. Bette was hauled before a coroner’s inquest. She testified again, that he had fallen down the stairs two months ago but the Coroner said that the injury was not that old, that it had occurred as recently as two weeks ago, and looked like he had been hit with something.
The case was ruled an accidental death but rumors persist to this day that Farnsworth and Davis had a knockdown, drag-out fight (literally) that resulted in the fractured skull that eventually led to his death.
