Blake Austin Griffin is an American professional basketball player for the National Basketball Association’s Boston Celtics (NBA).

Griffin was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Afro-Haitian father Tommy Griffin and white mother Gail Griffin.
His father was a Northwestern Oklahoma State University basketball center and track standout. Griffin and his older brother, Taylor Griffin, were home-schooled by their mother from first grade until Taylor finished tenth grade and Blake finished eighth.

Blake Griffin ‘s father led Classen High School to two state championships as a coach. He then became the head coach at Oklahoma Christian High School, where he won several high school coaching awards. He also ran a gym where his sons Blake and Taylor got their workouts.
Griffin made his NBA debut as a rookie the following season, earning All-Star honors, winning the NBA Slam Dunk Contest, and being named Rookie of the Year.
