Robert Joseph Dole was born on July 22, 1923, in Russell, Kansas, the United States to parents, Bina M. Talbott and Doran Ray Dole. His father, who had earned money by running a small creamery.

Bob Dole’s family moved to Russell shortly before he was born. He graduated from Russell High School in the spring of 1941 and enrolled at the University of Kansas the following fall.

Bob Dole later attended the University of Arizona from 1948 to 1949, however, he transferred to Washburn University, where he graduated with both undergraduate and law degrees in 1952.

Dole was married to his second wife, Elizabeth with whom he tied the knot on December 6, 1975. They had no children.

Bob Dole had announced in February 2021 that he was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. He had received immunotherapy to treat the disease whiles forgoing chemotherapy. However, Bob Dole died from cancer in his sleep on the morning of December 5, 2021, at the age of 98.
