Brian McKnight is an American singer, songwriter, actor, record producer, radio host and multi-instrumentalist. Brian McKnight is the son of Claude McKnight, Jr. and Ruth Elaine Willis.

Brian McKnight was brought up as a Seventh-day Adventist. Religion was important to the McKnights, who were Seventh-day Adventists for many generations.
His grandfather was a church pastor, and his mother sang in the gospel choir at Buffalo’s Emanuel Temple. McKnight, the youngest of four brothers, joined a cappella gospel quartet with his brothers.
His musical experience began as a child when he joined his church choir, which was directed by his grandfather.
Brian McKnight experimented with various musical genres, and in his early teens, he began composing instrumental material while learning to play several instruments.

McKnight formed a band and began performing his original songs in small venues around town. He was offered a publishing contract at the age of 18.
His self-titled debut album, released in 1992, went on to sell over a million copies. McKnight released 12 more studio albums between 1995 and 2017.
“Back at One,” his most successful album to date, sold over 3 million copies worldwide. Brian has sold over 25 million albums worldwide in total.
