The University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) has denied reports claiming that superstar singer Burna Boy covered all medical expenses for patients during a recent visit.

It’s worth noting that the singer made headlines recently for his charitable actions in Port Harcourt, which included covering medical bills, distributing foodstuff giveaways, and even sponsoring a lunch worth N4 million at a popular market.
The hospital clarified that Burna Boy only settled the bills of selected patients, contrary to claims suggesting he had paid off all outstanding bills.

This clarification came after several blogs and news sites reported earlier this week that Burna Boy had covered the hospital bills for all patients, which the hospital refuted.

The institution’s spokesperson, Elabha Meni, clarified this in a statement released on Friday, June 21, 2024, while also commending the singer for his generous actions.
“We commend Burna Boy’s kindness in financially assisting select patients in our hospital to offset their bills during his visit on June 11.
“However, contrary to reports stating that all patients’ bills in UPTH were paid during the visit, only selected patients received cash gifts or donations.
“The hospital did not receive direct payments from the musician and his team on behalf of patients to support this worthy course of reducing healthcare costs,” the statement read.
