Scott McKean grew up caddying and playing competitive golf in the Philadelphia area, but he was not on the golf team at Wake Forest. He played club hockey at Wake Forest University.

McKean started caddying for Cameron Young permanently in August 2020.

At the time, Young was still playing Monday qualifiers trying to earn status on the Korn Ferry tour and McKean was working in a cybersecurity company, Drawbridge.

The two were best friends in college and McKean is also very interested in golf, hence it made the decision easier for him.

Young made an even bigger ask in late September. He needed a caddie for three straight weeks. McKean asked if he could call back with an answer.

“He called me back an hour and a half later and had quit his job,”. “He’s giving up a lot to be away from home a lot, and not necessarily get to play golf, do other things he likes to do. But we have a great time. We have a lot of fun. It makes the travel and the long days a lot easier,” Young said.

Since that moment, the pair enjoyed plenty of success. In May 2021, Young won back-to-back Korn Ferry Tour events and went on to finish 19th on the 2020–21 regular-season points list, earning a PGA Tour card for 2021–22.

In just 9 starts on the PGA tour, he managed to secure second-place finishes at the Sanderson Farms Championship and the Genesis Invitational.

Away from the course, McKean is a keen surfer.

Scott McKean has been in a relationship with Alexis Kardias since 2021.
