Carlos Alcaraz Garfia was born on 5 May 2003, in El Palmar, Murcia, Spain as the son of Carlos Alcaraz Gonzalez and Virginia Garfia. He has one elder sibling and two younger siblings including Alvaro, Sergio, and Jaime.
Carlos Alcaraz Garfia first picked a racquet at the age of just four and had been inspired by his father who at a time was a top 40 player in Spain. He made his ATP main-draw debut at the age of 16 in February 2020 at the Rio Open, defeating fellow countryman Albert Ramos Viñolas.
At the age of 17, Carlos Alcaraz Garfia qualified for the main draw of the Australian Open, becoming the youngest participant in the men’s singles. Carlos Alcaraz Garfia won his Grand Slam debut defeating fellow qualifier Botic van de Zandschulp in straight sets.
