Cecilia Vega began working for ABC News the following year as a correspondent located in Los Angeles. She was hired as ABC World News Tonight’s Saturday news anchor in 2015 but later left to work as the network’s senior White House correspondent and host of Good Morning America.

Vega graduated in 1995 from Salesian High School in Richmond, California. In the American University School of Communication, she later sought a degree in communication and earned it in 1999.

Upon graduation, Vega covered the Gavin Newsom administration as a correspondent for the San Francisco Chronicle. Several groups, including the California Newspaper Publishers Association, the East Bay Press Club, and the Hearst Corporation commended her reporting.
