Chelsea has ruled out the possibility of rehiring Thomas Tuchel as manager following Mauricio Pochettino’s departure. The club is reportedly seeking younger managers, despite Tuchel’s interest in returning. Tuchel, who guided Chelsea to a Champions League victory in 2021, is keen on a Premier League comeback but does not align with the club’s current leadership vision.

Tuchel’s tenure at Chelsea ended in September 2022 under the new ownership of Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali. Subsequently, he managed Bayern Munich to a third-place finish in the Bundesliga, ending their 11-year title streak.
Chelsea is now focused on recruiting a younger manager, with Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna on their radar. Brighton is reportedly the front-runner to secure McKenna’s services to replace Roberto De Zerbi, who unexpectedly departed the Seagulls at the end of the season.

Despite De Zerbi’s departure, Chelsea admires him, and he had two years remaining on his contract with Brighton. Chelsea would need to pay compensation for his exit, similar to when Graham Potter joined from Brighton in 2022.
Other potential candidates being considered include Eddie Howe from Newcastle, Sebastian Hoeness from Stuttgart, and Ruben Amorim from Sporting Lisbon, although Amorim previously turned down Chelsea’s offer.
Brentford’s Thomas Frank is also being viewed as a potential match for Chelsea.
Chelsea confirmed Pochettino’s departure on Tuesday, citing a thorough evaluation of his performance. Pochettino, who sought a contract extension and more involvement in player recruitment, will receive a £3 million settlement for the early termination of his contract.
