Chris Dawson First Wife: Who was Lynette Joy Dawson?

Lynette Joy Dawson was the wife of Christopher Michael Dawson a convicted murderer from Australia and a former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s.

Lynette Simms and Chris Dawson, both 16, met in 1965 at a high school function. They married in Sydney in 1970 at St Jude’s Church in Randwick and had two children later on

Lynette Joy Dawson disappeared on January 9, 1982, leaving behind two daughters and her husband, former rugby league player Chris Dawson.

Chris didn’t report his wife missing until six weeks later, on February 18, 1982.  He claimed she left because of marital problems caused by her credit card spending.

Chris claimed in a police statement that she had joined a religious organisation. In 1983, he filed for divorce from Dawson and married the following year.

Lynette Joy Dawson’s whereabouts are unknown, but she was murdered, according to two coronial inquests.

Chris Dawson was charged with her murder in December 2018 and pleaded not guilty in June 2019.

He was committed to stand trial for the murder of his wife in February 2020. Chris Dawson was found guilty of Lynette’s murder on August 30, 2022.
