Christo Lamprecht, the amateur champion, had a memorable opening round of 5-under 66 at the 151st Open. Since Tom Lewis’ 65 at the 2011 140th Open, this was the lowest first-round total by an amateur in a major tournament.

Lamprecht shot seven birdies and two bogeys in the opening round at Royal Liverpool while playing with fellow countryman and former Open champion Louis Oosthuizen and Joost Luiten.
