Myrie was born on August 25, 1964, in Bolton, England, to Jamaican parents. His mother worked as a seamstress while his dad was a factory worker who made car batteries.

He joined the BBC as part of their graduate training programme and his first assignment was reporting for BBC Radio Bristol in 1988.

Since he became a foreign correspondent in 1996, he’s reported from more than 90 countries.

He is the host of the long-running BBC quiz shows Mastermind and Celebrity Mastermind.

Myrie met his wife, who then worked in publishing, at the 1992 London launch of a book about Swiss cheeses.

The couple married six years later at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Covent Garden.

According to Myrie, his wife gave him the courage and space to pursue his dreams.

Clive Myrie and his wife share a love of opera music. In a 2017 interview, he said they go to the Verona Opera Festival every year with a group of friends.

It is not known whether Myrie and his wife share any children, as their personal lives are kept private.
