Palmer joined Chelsea from Manchester City last summer and quickly became a crucial part of the team. The 22-year-old midfielder scored 22 goals and provided 10 assists, totaling 32 goal contributions in 33 league games.

This impressive record puts him second in the Premier League for combined goals and assists this season.

Palmer is the first Chelsea player to win this award since it started in the 2019/20 season, when Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool won.

Remarkably, before he turned 22, Palmer joined an elite group of players, becoming only the third to have over 30 goal involvements in a single season at the age of 21 or younger.

He also matched the Chelsea record of 16 home league goals in a season, set by club legends Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard.

Some of Palmer’s standout moments this season include scoring four goals in a game against Everton and a hat-trick against Manchester United.

His performances have outshone strong competitors for the award such as Manchester City’s Phil Foden and Erling Haaland, Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo, Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and William Saliba, and Tottenham’s Destiny Udogie.
