Chuck, his father, is a technical training engineer, while his mother writes children’s books. Connor has been interested in playing ice hockey since he was a toddler, and his father witnessed his enthusiasm for the sport since he was a child.

In an interview with CBC, his father stated that Connor used to stand in front of the TV and mimic the positions of ice hockey players. He was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in the fifth round, 130th overall, in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Hellebuyck currently plays for the Winnipeg Jets in the National Hockey League (NHL). He made his NHL debut during the 2015-2016 season and has been the Jets’ starting goaltender since then.

In the 2017-2018 season, Hellebuyck was a finalist for the Vezina Trophy, awarded to the NHL’s best goaltender. Although he did not win the award that year, he had an outstanding season and was a key factor in the Jets’ success.

Hellebuyck also represented Team USA in international competitions, including the 2018 IIHF World Championship. He helped Team USA earn a bronze medal in the tournament.
