Scottish vocalist William Daniel McCafferty (14 October 1946 – 8 November 2022) is best known for his work as the band Nazareth’s lead singer from the band’s inception in 1968 until his retirement from active touring in 2013.

Scotch-born McCafferty was born in Dunfermline. Dan McCafferty has toured with Nazareth for 45 years and has appeared on each of their albums up to 2014.

Dan McCafferty was married and the father of two kids. On November 8, 2022, Dan McCafferty passed away at the age of 76.

In an interview with the UK music journal Classic Rock, Dan McCafferty went into further detail about the nature of the health concerns and the current state of his life.

Dan McCafferty said that he had not had a stroke as had been reported in the media. In addition, McCafferty disclosed that a ruptured stomach ulcer was the cause of his onstage fall at a concert in Canada in July 2013.
