Legendary American musician David Perry Lindley passed dead on March 3, 2023. What made him most famous was his collaborations with a variety of well-known musicians, including Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, Ry Cooder, Bonnie Raitt, Warren Zevon, Curtis Mayfield, and Dolly Parton.

Lindley was a gifted musician who could play a variety of instruments, earning him the title “maxi-instrumentalist” in Acoustic Guitar magazine. He also started the band El Rayo-X.

Violin, acoustic and electric guitars, upright and electric basses, banjo, lap steel guitar, mandolin, hardingfele, bouzouki, cittern, balama, gumbus, charango, cümbüs, oud, and zither were among the stringed instruments Lindley frequently employed.
In the 1960s, Lindley co-founded the band Kaleidoscope and oversaw the musical direction of a number of traveling artists. On occasion, he also composed music for motion pictures.
