American basketball player David Michael Roddy participated in basketball, football, and track & field throughout his high school career. He was given football and basketball scholarship offers, but he ultimately chose to play basketball at Colorado State University.

Roddy excelled as a player when he was there, winning numerous honors including selection to the First Team All-Mountain West in his sophomore and junior years, as well as the Mountain West Player of the Year award in his junior year.
Roddy’s standout on the court attracted the attention of NBA organizations, and the Philadelphia 76ers selected him in the 2022 NBA draft; however, he was later moved to the Memphis Grizzlies.
His 15.9 points and 9.4 rebounds per game average during his sophomore campaign earned him a spot on the first team of the Mountain West. On January 27, 2021, he had one of his season’s outstanding games when he outscored Boise State by 27 points and grabbed 15 rebounds.
On July 2, 2022, Roddy signed his rookie scale contract with the Grizzlies after getting selected. On October 19, he made his NBA debut. On March 11, 2023, against the Dallas Mavericks, he recorded a career-high 24 points.

On March 27, 2001, David Roddy was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to parents Darcy and Pierre Roddy Sr. Being the youngest of five brothers, he claims that his need to keep up with his older brothers fed his competitive nature.
Six years his senior, David’s oldest brother used to play hoops with his brothers at the neighborhood YMCA.
Despite coaching David in football when he was younger, David’s father, Pierre Sr., eventually shifted to coaching him in basketball.
Darcy Roddy, David’s mother, has a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas and has been employed by Wells Fargo since 2008 as an accounting manager.
Pierre Roddy Jr., David’s oldest sibling, participated in NCAA basketball with the Panhandle State Aggies and has been a Forex trader since 2019.
Noah Roddy, one of David’s other older brothers, served as the dance team coach at Peru State College and is now the assistant dance coach for the Minnesota State University Dance Team.
