Melanie Adele Martinez is an American singer and songwriter. Born in Astoria, Queens, and raised in Baldwin, New York, Martinez rose to fame in 2012 after appearing on the American television vocal talent show The Voice.

Following the show, she released her debut single “Dollhouse”, followed by her debut EP of the same name (2014), through Atlantic Records.

Martinez later released her debut studio album, Cry Baby (2015), which went on to be certified double-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Martinez’s songs “Sippy Cup”, “Mad Hatter”, “Mrs Potato Head”, “Cry Baby”, “Pacify Her” and “Soap”, were all certified gold in the U.S., and her songs “Dollhouse” and “Pity Party” received platinum certification from the RIAA.

Martinez released her second studio album, K-12 (2019), alongside its accompanying film, as a follow-up to the storyline of Cry Baby. Her EP was released a year later in 2020, called After School.

Did Melanie Martinez win The Voice?

No, Melanie Martinez did not win the voice but she did participate in the third season of The Voice in 2012. She was eliminated by audience vote in week five. The winner of The Voice for this season was Cassadee Pope.

She became one of the top six contestants before her elimination from the live shows. Melanie Martinez was a contestant on Season 3 of The Voice as part of Team Adam.

Remembered for her unique, breathy tone, the two-toned pattern in her hair, and her creative spins on popular songs.

Melanie quickly garnered attention on the show, and despite not being the strongest vocalist, managed to use her creativity and originality to make it to the Top 6, where she would be eliminated in 6th place.

Following her time on the show, she released a full-length album titled Cry Baby, and music videos accompanying each of the tracks. With her early popularity, she is widely known as the biggest star to ever come out of The Voice US.
