He participated in college sports for Kansas State, where he won awards like the 2016 Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year. San Francisco 49ers selected Reed after Reed declared for the 2018 NFL Draft. He played for the Seattle Seahawks throughout his career before joining the Jets in 2022.

Despite this setback thus far in his professional career, DJ Reed is still widely considered as an incredibly talented player in the NFL who has proven to be adaptable and skilled in a variety of positions.
