Alex Pettyfer is an English actor and model best recognized as Alex Rider, the main character in the 2006 film version of Stormbreaker.

Alexander Richard Pettyfer was born on April 10, 1990, in Stevenage, United Kingdom as the son of Lee Robinson, an actress and Richard Pettyfer, an actor.

Alex Pettyfer has a younger half-brother, named James Ireland who is a professional tennis player and regional coach. He was brought up in Esher and then Windsor, Berkshire. Alex schooled at The Mall School in Twickenham, and later at the Lambrook Haileybury school in Winkfield, Berkshire.

Alex Pettyfer subsequently attended two other independent boarding schools: Millfield School in Street, Somerset as well as Shiplake College near Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire.

Alex Pettyfer left Shiplake College to attend the independent Sylvia Young Theatre School in London. He made his professional acting début in the British television production of Tom Brown’s Schooldays in 2005, where he played the lead character, Tom Brown.

Alex Pettyfer was nominated for a Young Artist Award and an Empire Award for his role as Alex Rider, the main character in the 2006 film version of Stormbreaker. He has modelled in several advertising campaigns for Burberry and has starred in I Am Number Four, Beastly, Magic Mike, as well as the miniseries The I-Land.
